MegaphoneAre you a novelist, editor, comic book artist, screenwriter, or literary agent who specializes in speculative fiction? Do you have a desire to serve the writing community by offering a slice of your expertise and experience to your contemporaries or creative people aspiring to join the ranks of published professionals? We may have a place for you and your unique wisdom at Realm Makers, 2014.

We are currently accepting faculty proposals for single-session classes at the 2014 conference, to take place on May 30-31 at Villanova University, just outside of Philadelphia, PA.

If you are selected to teach at Realm Makers, here’s what you can expect:

  • You will have 50 minutes to present your content
  • Your audience will consist of science fiction and/or fantasy fanatics.
  • You will be compensated $50 for every class you are selected to teach—which means you may send proposals for multiple classes.
  • You will receive a free conference registration.
  • You will be invited to sell books/product in the conference bookstore

We are looking primarily for classes whose content is specific to science fiction and fantasy, such as world building, writing space battles, or weapons and armor, for example. Speculative fiction courses can be taught from a Christian worldview if applicable. Realm Makers overarching goal is to allow for dialogue that is Judeo-Christian worldview-friendly, but if your area of expertise does not lend itself to presenting in tandem with faith matters, please understand that is not a requirement.

If you intend to submit content for a general writing craft class, please be aware that Realm Makers will offer comparatively few classes in this category, and at least one of the general craft topics will be handled in a panel format. We certainly want your submissions—we just want you to know the competition in this area will be stiff.

A call for panelist will go out at a later date. For now, we are only seeking submissions for solo-taught sessions.

To submit, please send the following to info[at]faithandfantasyalliance[dot]com, with Faculty Proposal in the subject line:

  • Title of your session
  • Blurb of 100 words or less explaining the key take-away of your course
  • A general outline of the points you will cover in the course
  • A presenter biography that details your expertise that makes you an authority in the area you intend to teach

Submission deadline: Dec 1st, 2013

If your content is selected as a class the selection committee would like to pursue, we will notify you by Dec 8th, 2013 to request a detailed outline of your course.

We’re looking forward to seeing what fabulous content you want to present! If you have any questions, please send them to info[at]faithandfantasyalliance[dot]com. Please allow 2-3 days for a response.
