Hello again, friends! Today we’re sitting down with the rest of our lovely staff members to get the inside scoop on their Realm Makers jobs. I present to you Bethany Kaczmarek, Ralene Burke, Adrienne Niceley, Becky Minor, and Scott Minor.

Bethany Kaczmarek

What do you do for Realm Makers?

bethanyAs contest coordinator, Bethany is working feverishly RIGHT NOW to make sure authors and artists are aware of a worthy opportunity. Everyone likes a little healthy competition, and contests offer authors and artists a chance to rise above the rest. She hunts down worthy judges (fans of spec-fic and avid readers, as well as professional editors and authors). She writes posts to make the world aware of us. She personally invites mind-blowing authors to enter (and hopes you’re doing the same thing!) In the next few weeks, she’ll be juggling all the entries and mixing them up to send to the judges. Round two will follow, and she’ll get to super-secretly send the winners to the final round judges: Jeff Gerke, Kathy Tyers, and Tosca Lee. Then she’ll help to coordinate the award ceremony so it’s fantastic. Her job requires major organizational magic and the occasional bottle of life-restoring potion to restore her energy. But it’s a worthy goal. And The Realm and Parable are worthy conquests.

Bethany’s Bio:

Bethany Kaczmarek, a 2015 ACFW Editor of the Year finalist, is a fan of gripping Story. She makes sure every thread is woven consistently throughout a manuscript—whatever the genre. She points out ways to deepen and enrich the layers so the theme is vivid. And she’s great at helping to develop compelling subplots and secondary characters if sequels are on the horizon. As a card-carrying grammar nerd, Bethany believes an author’s voice comes from knowing the rules well enough to break them with flair. Though she takes editing seriously, she believes a healthy dose of humor can make the revision process fun. A member of the Christian Editor Connection and the Christian PEN, her goal is to help hard-working writers sound like gifted writers. She’s one of the Editor Sisters at A Little Red Ink. Ralene Burke

What do you do for Realm Makers?

Ralene is the Marketing Director for Realm Makers. She presides over such fun frivolity as social media, blogs, newsletters, ads, and pretty much anything that helps get word to the masses about the fabulousness that is Realm Makers.

At the conference, you will most often find her at the registration table, greeting attendees and answering questions.

Ralene’s Bio:

Whether she’s wielding a fantasy writer’s pen, a freelance editor’s sword, or a social media wand, Ralene Burke always has her head in some dreamer’s world. And her goal is to make it SHINE! She spins fantastical tales to encourage people to SHINE BEYOND. She has worked for a variety of groups/companies, including Realm Makers, The Christian PEN, Kentucky Christian Writers Conference, and as an editor for a number of freelance clients.

Her first novel, Bellanok, is being published as a 5-part serial starting in October 2015!

When her head’s not in the publishing world, she is wife to a veteran and homeschooling mama to their three kids. Her Pinterest board would have you believe she is a master chef, excellent seamstress, and all around crafty diva. If she only had the time . . .

You can also find her on her websiteFacebook, and Twitter!

Adrienne Niceley

What do you do for Realm Makers?

IMG_0912Adrienne is Ralene’s right hand minion. She helps run the blog and brings Ralene her tea. When she’s not putting the kettle on, she’s also aiding in mastermind marketing plots.

Adrienne’s Bio:

Adrienne has often been compared to Anne of Green Gables. Although she’s never desired to sleep in a wild cherry tree, she has yearned to use stories as a way of reaching out to others and pointing them to God. A student of The One Year Adventure Novel, Adrienne has been pursuing the art and craft of writing fiction for six years, and is involved in several writing communities. When she isn’t penning stories or reading, you can find her working as a mother’s helper for five wild munchkins, binge watching with her sister, creating quirky creations out of yarn, or skyping her best friend for hours on end. Becky Minor

What do you do for Realm Makers?

beckyBecky is working to do less for the conference, in all honesty, which is very difficult for someone who hates to trouble anyone and who has a small problem with perfectionism. As conference director, Becky strives to create a unified vision for the conference as a growing staff of volunteers handles the ins-and-outs of the many tasks it takes to put Realm Makers together. She coordinates brainstorming efforts on everything from faculty to food. With her husband, Scott, they manage the relationships with the conference venues and tackle the business end of things, including building the registration process, running the conference bookstore, and answering any questions that come up from the planning committee.

Basically, Becky gets the final say on what each facet of the conference should look and feel like, and works to guide her minions—ahem—volunteers in making it so.

Becky’s Bio:

Rebecca P. Minor, founder of the Realm Makers Conference, author, and artist, has a passion for the place where art intersects storytelling. She’s dabbled across the spectrum, working in fields such as video game animation, tour guiding from the driver’s seat of a horse and carriage, interior illustration, graphic novels, “paintertainment,” and fantasy writing. She began the Realm Makers Conference in an effort to provide a safe haven for those Christian creatives who had no true home in either the typical Christian writers conference or the comic book convention scene.

Rebecca is the author of The Windrider Saga and The Risen Age Archive, soon to be re-released in new editions. When she’s not writing or drawing elves and dragons, she makes her home northwest of Philadelphia with her husband Scott and three boys, who are happy to storm castles or visit fantastic worlds at her side.

Scott Minor

I am the one who looks over Becky’s shoulder and says, “But it’s not going to work like that. Here. let scott3me take care of this for you.” I am photo reference. Yes, the guy in that drawing… that Scottwas me. I am the lame copy editor who never got through 25% of her manuscript and then points out all the mistakes in the published copy. Heh. Becky loves that. While she is writing, or more often drawing these days, I hold down the fort at home, manage
the operations of Realm Makers, and deal with the things that don’t require as much
creativity like running the bookstore and keeping track of the budget. In my spare time, I am a musical theater performer and children’s theater director.
