Today we begin a delightful series for your reading pleasure. We’re going to be sitting down with our faculty members one by one during the upcoming weeks, getting to know them better in preparation for the impending conference.

And now, it is our pleasure to introduce to you agent Julie Gwinn!

Welcome Julie!

1. How did you get into your field?
My journey has been interesting. Journalism degree. Business Reporter. Marketing and Public Relations professional. Trade book marketing manager. Fiction publisher and then literary agent. I am a voracious reader and love talking about books.
2. What are you most looking forward to at Realm Makers?
Hearing the fantastic story ideas! The authors who attend Realm Makers are some of the most creative and imaginative writers around.

3. What draws you to speculative fiction?

4. Who is your favorite speculative fiction Hero(ine)?
Harry Potter
5. When did you know this was the field for you?
I have always been a writer. I have a background in Journalism and advertising. Being a literary agent is another way to stay close to the written word.
6. Will you be dressing up for the conference’s Costume Dinner? 
Maybe this year.
7. Coffee or Tea?
Coffee
8. What as your favorite TV show as a kid? What is it now?
I loved Gilligan’s Island. Now it is Big Bang Theory.

julieJulie Gwinn, currently a literary agent with The Seymour Agency, has more than a decade in Christian publishing including serving as marketing manager then Fiction Publisher for B&H Publishing Group and Marketing Manager for Abingdon Press.

Prior to joining the publishing industry, Gwinn has more than 20 years’ experience in advertising, marketing and public relations. She uses her previous experience to aid her authors at every phase of their publishing plan.

She lives in Nashville, TN, with her husband and two children and also enjoys freelance editing, and DIY projects around the house.
